I made a lot of progress with this challenge in February.
I had about four boxes to give to charity so I actually have space on the shelves now! The only shelves left to do are in my son’s room and I’m in no hurry to do them.
I moved all my unread books onto my study bookshelves - on the bottom three shelves of the middle bookcase. I’ve organised these unread books into non-fiction, YA and “other”. I’m also keeping travel books, photo albums and cookery books together but apart from that there isn’t any order to the books.
I still haven’t decided whether I want to put the books into a particular order. I may separate fiction and non-fiction but I’m not sure I want to encourage my obsessive-compulsive tendencies and I certainly don’t want to give myself unnecessary annoyance if the books get out of order. We’ll see.
If decluttering is enough, then this challenge could be over very soon!

I do have fiction/non-fiction separated, and each is alphabetized. *L*
Do you alphabetize by author or title? Alphabetizing would keep organisation simple, I guess. My worry is I’ll start off separating non-fiction and fiction then split that into genre and sub-genre and I’ll end up with my own version of the Dewey Decimal System.
*rofl* Mine is simply by author. Genre then sub-genre never even crossed my mind…thankfully!
